When selecting a mini excavator, one of the most common dilemmas potential buyers face is whether to choose rubber tracks or steel tracks. The answer is not a one-size-fits-all; it depends heavily on your specific job site, budget, and long-term maintenance plans. Each track type offers distinct advantages and limitations.
Rubber Tracks: The Guardian of Urban and Fine Operations
The biggest selling point of rubber tracks is their surface-friendliness. They do not damage asphalt, concrete, or paving stones, making them ideal for city construction, landscaping, and indoor demolition projects. Additionally, rubber tracks significantly reduce vibration and noise during operation, which is critical for jobs near residential areas or hospitals.
From a maintenance perspective, rubber tracks can have a lower total cost of ownership. While the initial replacement cost is high, they eliminate daily chores like lubricating chains and adjusting tension.
